Reality Show ‘Mexican Dynasties’ Debuts As Bravo Tries To Attract More Latino Viewers

February 26, 2019

Flamboyant, wealthy, over-the-top personalities who say and do outrageous things are the focus of Bravo’s new reality show Mexican Dynasties, which follows three famous families: the Allendes, the Bessudos and the Madrazos.
Looking to attract more Latinos and broaden its overall viewership with a new reality show about Mexican elites, Bravo, home of some of the most popular reality TV shows, including The Real Housewives of Beverly Hillsand its different city franchises, is betting that a show about rich, eccentric Mexicans will be a hit.
Well-known in their native Mexico, the elite families, whose fortunes stem from the entertainment, beverage and luxury car industries, and are interconnected through personal and professional relationships going back decades, will offer a glimpse at their outrageous lifestyles with humor, sometimes bordering on the absurd, and at times, eliciting a bit of shock: did they just say that?!
The show’s tag line promotes the group’s at times comedic and zany behavior: “Three family Dynasties, two generations of friends…one big family circus.”
Outside of Mexico, the best known member of the cast is Fernando Allende, known as a film and television actor (a leading man on many Mexican telenovelas) and singer. The series follows him, his wife of 30 years, Mari, and their two children, Elán and Adán, who are trying to grow their music careers. But there’s rivalry among the brothers and tension between Mari and her outspoken daughter-in-law Jenny Allende (wife of son Elán).

‘Mexican Dynasties’ Cast Is ‘Proud’ to Show a New Side of Mexico: Why You Should Watch (Exclusive)

February 26, 2019

Bravo is taking the drama to Mexico with its all-new series, Mexican Dynasties, and the cast couldn’t be more excited — or proud.

The new show, premiering on Tuesday, follows the lives of three well-to-do families in Mexico City: the Allendes, centering on 80s heartthrob Fernando Allende, his manager wife of 30 years, Mari, and their up-and-coming musician sons; the Bessudos, focusing on famed fashion critic Raquel Bessudo, whose daughter, Doris, returns to Mexico from Beverly Hills to help her mom cope with life as a widow; and the Madrazos, featuring siblings Oscar and Paulina, who host a popular TV show and do pretty much everything together — until their dating lives force a little independence.

At a time when Mexico and its people have been thrust into American news and politics like never before, the Mexican Dynasties cast is ready to show a “beautiful reality” of the place they call home. Here’s why you should tune in:

“Nowadays, Mexico really is in the spotlight in the whole world, and we really wanted to showcase our country and our culture in a very different way,” Paulina told ET’s Brice Sander at the show’s joint premiere party with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills earlier this month. “[We want to show] the way that we live it throughout our lives, our eyes, our hearts, and I think that that’s why, I mean, we’re here, and we’re here for good!”

Mexican Dynasties filming in English puts a fresh spin on watching rich people

March 8, 2019

“You’ve gained a“It’s Trump weight,” her grown-up daughter snaps back. “Every time he tweets … I eat.” little bit of weight,” the mother — a rather regal woman — tsks-tsks.

Just a tiny vignette in the premiere episode of the GIF-generating reality
series Mexican Dynasties — a show that comes bearing dynasties, dinero, and dysfunction. Or, as the tagline for it puts it: “Three family dynasties, two generations of friends … one big family circus.”

If Schitt’s Creek mated with Roma: that’s what I sorta thought when watching it, pulled in by its zany, meta complexion but also by its inside look at Mexico City (one of my all-time favourite cities!) at this time in the political discourse.

Doris Bessudo, the aforementioned daughter, made the case as much in the opening reel for the series when she cried, “Americans don’t know s–t about Mexico!”

As the series zeroes in on the dynamics of three elite families, Doris has just returned home after the death of her father, an heir to Jarritos (the massive soft-drink brand in Mexico). She is also the manager (or “daughteranager” as she says) to mom Raquel, a socialite and TV host — the “Joan
Rivers of Mexico.” I get a distinctly Terms of Endearment vibe from them.

Meanwhile, in another orbit of the show, there is the brother-sister duo of Paulina and Oscar Madrazo, who we are told come from a luxury-car dynasty, and who seem so close that, as family friend Doris points out, “I’m sorry. It reminds me of Game Of Thrones, like Jaime and Cersei” — though both Madrazos clearly seem in on the joke.

Why The ‘Mexican Dynasties’ Cast Says Their Show Is Totally Different From The ‘Real Housewives’ Franchise

February 26, 2019

If Bravo has perfected a craft, it’s serving up addictive drama. But there’s a new reality series in town, and it just might spice things up on the network. Bravo’s Mexican Dynasties, premiering Feb. 26, is centered around three wealthy, powerful families in Mexico City, and it’s promising to deliver a kind of drama and culture fans have yet to see on mainstream TV.

But according to the Mexican Dynasties cast, their show is quite different than the Real Housewives franchise, a network staple. Perhaps the biggest difference is that Mexican Dynasties focuses on family and spotlights the dynamics between multiple generations … Adan Allende, a swoon-worthy, up-and-coming singer (and son of Fernando and Mari, both on the show), explains its relatability. “You have grandmas, grandchildren, mothers, daughters, boyfriends, true love, first love,” he says. “Blood, family sticks together forever,” his mother Mari adds.

The Allende Family: Who Are the Allendes on ‘Mexican Dynasties?’

February 26, 2019

Mexican Dynasties premieres tonight on Bravo, featuring three wealthy families in Mexico City and their lavish lifestyles. One of the three families is the Allende family, which includes their father Fernando, mother Mari, sons Elan and Adan, and Elan’s wife Jenny.

Bravo’s description of the series is “Connected to each other through a string of personal and professional relationships going back decades, the Allendes, the Bessudos and the Madrazos have Mexico City and all of its offerings in the palms of their hands. According to the Aspen Times, Fernando started painting after his music and acting careers were well established, and his work was showed in a number of prestigious galleries, including Venice Biennale. He told them “Painting to me is about creating language,” he said. “It’s inventing a new language that you hope to be understood by a lot of people. … I never know what’s going to happen.”

Bravo’s ‘Mexican Dynasties’ Cast Will Make You Scream ‘MexicOMG’

February 26, 2019

From classic shows like The Real Housewives franchise to Project Runway, it’s no secret that Bravo is one of the reigning champions of reality television. On Feb. 26, Bravo is premiering its all-new show, Mexican Dynasties, and reality TV fans are already buzzing about the Mexican Dynasties cast — and for good reason.

Mexican Dynasties will follow the lives of three established families in Mexico City: the Allendes, the Bessudos, and the Madrazos. The interesting part? The three families have been intertwined both personally and professionally for decades. And according to Bravo’s website, “With both humor and heart, they challenge stereotypes, raise a few eyebrows and proudly showcase their over-the-top lifestyles.”

While Mexico Dynasties could be something that simply slips into your Tuesday night routine on television, the show’s cast also has a very real challenge to show the world, especially in 2019’s political climate.

“Nowadays, Mexico really is in the spotlight in the whole world, and we really wanted to showcase our country and our culture in a very different way,” Paulina Madrazo told Entertainment Tonight. “[We want to show] the way that we live

This Mexican Dynasties Family’s Penthouse in the Sky Is Simply to Die For

February 13, 2019

There’s one thing we know for sure: The Allendes of Bravo’s new show Mexican Dynasties are not a shy and retiring bunch. The family — one of three glamorous Mexico City clans chronicled in the show — takes life by the horns, so to speak, and the center of it all is their utra-sleek penthouse in the sky. Family patriarch Fernando recently gave us a tour (which you can watch in the video above), and as you might expect, it’s completely set up for entertaining, with a dining space that easily seats 12 as well as multiple sitting areas for lounging, including a stadium-sized great room (we exaggerate, but only slightly) equipped with more sofas than your average furniture showroom.

But where the party really goes down is on the expansive penthouse terrace with endless views of Mexico City. “As a family, we spend a lot of time out here, and the parties, oh my god, the parties,” gushed Fernando, who motioned to where the Mariachi band is usually set up before calling down to the housing staff for Champagne. We can get used to this.

Good thing Fernando can retreat to his bedroom when he needs to chill, where everything from the shades to the TV is controlled via smart tablet.

Get Ready for Some Wild Antics and a Real Housewives Connection When Mexican Dynasties Premieres This February https://t.co/NwH0UfDygs (in case y’all been wondering what I’ve been producing!)

— Carlton Jordan (@CarltonJordan) January 15, 2019

All three families are tight-knit among themselves and have decade-long connections with each other that go beyond the professional world. According to Bravo TV, a new teaser trailer revealed which characters we will meet in the opening episode, which premieres at the end of next month.

Fans will be introduced to Fernando and Mari Allende, as well as their boys, Elan and Adan. We will also meet Raquel Bessudo and her daughter, Doris Bessudo. Doris is related to Mauricio Umansky, whom fans may recognize as the husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.

Being related to a Real Housewives star might give the Bessudo’s an upper hand, though it is not clear how close they are to Richards and her husband. Rounding out the cast, meanwhile, is Oscar Madrazo and his sister, Paulina.

Companario Entertainment and Shed Media are co-producing the new show. Executive producers include Lisa Shannon, Pam Healey and Jaime Davila. It is unclear how many episodes will be featured in the first season.

Few other details have been released about the new show, but considering how Mexico City is home to a class of secretive elites, it will be interesting to see how things are done south of the border.
